Marshmallow roots is rich in mucilage and when combined with saliva or water, it becomes slippery and viscous which will act as a natural coating to sooth-irritated membranes throughout the gastrointestinal tract.
It is rich in antioxidants because it has high concentrations of Vitamin A and Vitamin C. It is, on the other hand, effective in soothing the discomfort caused by sore throat, cough and bronchitis.
